Sheik Mohamed Sillah is a legend in his own right, an honorable man, a servant of the people, and a true community leader. For over two decades, he has dedicated his life to the Reading community, selflessly giving his time, wisdom, and presence wherever he was needed. Whether officiating a wedding, blessing a newborn at a naming ceremony, offering words of comfort at a funeral, or standing in unity at gatherings that brought people together, Sheik Sillah has always been at the heart of it all.
Yet beyond the ceremonies and public moments, his greatest legacy lies in his mentorship. As a devoted teacher, he has guided countless young men and women of Reading, instilling in them values of faith, integrity, respect, and service. His influence has shaped the character of today’s young adults, many of whom carry forward his teachings as a foundation for their own lives.

Though Sheik Sillah is stepping away from one role, a man of his caliber cannot truly retire. His very presence is a beacon. He is a light that lifts people from darkness into clarity, a steady flame that keeps the moral candle of our community burning. His absence, as he travels to the Motherland, will create not just a personal void but a spiritual vacuum, a gap that reminds us how much we depend on leaders of his strength and wisdom.
As we let him go with love and prayers, we also eagerly await his return. We pray that God Almighty will watch over him, protect his steps, and guide him safely back to where he belongs, the beautiful and blessed community of Reading, Pennsylvania.

Sheik Sillah, you are our hero, our leader, and our inspiration. May the Almighty reward you abundantly for every life you have touched and every soul you have lifted.

Tears fall as I write these words. God bless you, my brother. If I had the power, I would stop you from leaving, but I know that God’s plan is greater than ours. He will be your light, your guide, and your protector.
Thank you for what you have done for my family, and for the many families you have touched with your kindness, wisdom, and love. Your impact is beyond measure, and your absence will be deeply felt.
With gratitude and respect,
B Moses & M. Bah
